If you are thinking of celebrating the New Year in Geilo, you are not the only one. There are visitors in all the cabins and the hotels are almost fully booked, including Dr. Holms. The streets in the town centre are crowded with people from near and far. Everyone brings their party outfits, and the mood is set for New Year´s Eve.
Geilo Cultural Church (Geilo Kulturkyrkje) offers several activities during Christmas. On the 30th of December they hold, among other things, an ice concert and on New Year’s Eve there is an Evening Mass in the Cultural Church.
At Dr. Holms Hotel, everyone dresses for the occasion. On the 30th of December, a shellfish buffet is served in the restaurant. On New Year’s Eve, the stage is set for an aperitif followed by a New Year’s banquet. Skibaren is open with music and refreshments. At midnight, however, it is time to head outside to experience the big fireworks display at Dr. Holm’s and to enjoy the view over Geilo.
On New Year’s Day, there is breakfast as usual, but it lasts until 13.00. We also serve a New Year’s brunch with a buffet and invite everyone to spend a pleasant time together.
